You were for the first time in Europe. What was the purpose of your visit and what countries have you traveled to?
It was my first time in Europe and the purpose was to get to Copenhagen, Denmark and meet up with the rest of the Grindline crew and build a skatepark. Leticia knew we were coming out here, she started thinking maybe we can get to some people she knows on the weekends when we are not working but then her and Birdo must have came up with the tour idea. Landed in London, flew to Brussels, Belgium, went to the Antwerp park, then to Amsterdam, killer. Some demos in Holland, back to london to actually skate stuff, Cologne, Germany... Prague with you guys, then Berlin, then i'm here now in Copenhagen writing to you live.
During your life you skated, but also built, a large number of skateparks. What do you think of the quality Prague skateparks and especially DIY fullpipe that you have visited?
Danger has built more skateparks than I have, I worked on some, but we have projects back home that are pretty much skatepark-like obstacles in the streets or under bridges. I think it is really sick that the DIY stuff is so big here. We went to this little halfpipe thing and then this other more street like zone near our hotel. It's hard to make concrete work, when you are mixing the bags yourself by hand, and you must have some experience with concrete and what you are trying to have the finished concrete look like and skate like. It was good motivation, whoever built that full pipe spot needs to start again somewhere else and it'll just keep getting better.
Why didn't Leticia Ruano and Roberto Aleman come with you to Prague?
Roberto was going to portugal, so he had to go home before he went there. Leticia was with him in Spain before we got to Europe, so I think she went back to fly out from there.
Which European country left the biggest impression on you and why?
Everywhere we went really left an impression on us, because it was cool to go to different places and get a little taste of what it's like for these people lives so we checked out a little and then kept going. I really liked Cologne, Germany. Good people, party scene and food, but Prague was insane too, hot ladies, beers and the hockey game was a rager.
Can you imagine that you could live in some European country for the rest of your life?
Yeah, those two places I just mentioned above. Actually we went to Cologne because we have a friend we knew from the states who is living there with his lady.
How did you like the finals of Hockey World Championships?
Oh, the hockey game was sick! Take that Russia! Gather round the bowl and drink some brews and feel the intensity of the fans. When we were going to the hotel after, cars were honking at us with flags hangin out the window, Czech folks know how to do it.
Would you ever go back to Prague again?
Oh hell yeah I'd go to prague again. See you guys and some other friends I made from the skatepark. A bunch of friends from Ant Hero just went out there... some more yankees to deal with.
What do yousay about the quality of Czech beer and Czech girls?
That one park we went to, walked through to Stalin square, cold beer and stand and then girls everywhere you look. I wanted to hang out there all day. Going to the skatepark one morning I saw the best looking girl I have ever seen in my whole life.
What do you like best in Prague?
People, Bars, skate scene, did I say girls?
Thanx for everything Trava.
